Melungeon Roots members receive 3 FREE monthly lookups from specific titles in the Resource Center. Please consider making a donation if you are a non-member, as this helps to fund my work on the website.

How does it work?

  1. Pick a term – surname, ancestor, people, place, etc. – from any resource page with a [Request lookup!] button. (e.g., “Batie Collins” in ‘Melungeons: Footprints from the Past’)
  2. Submit your lookup request by filling out the product fields on this page and then completing the checkout process.
  3. I’ll send you a short excerpt (around 1 paragraph) from the resource that includes your chosen term within context, a page number, and a citation. You’ll be notified by email once your file is ready for download.

I’ll process these requests in the order they are received, and I won’t be able to provide additional information beyond the excerpt. There are currently eleven Melungeon-specific titles marked as “lookup available,” and you’ll see many more added in the coming weeks.
